WELCOME

The Lyme Regis Museum Research Team was created in 2009 primarily to take over answering the enquiries on the social history of the area that were regularly received by the Museum. Its area of interest is Lyme Regis and Uplyme and to a lesser extent Charmouth, Rousdon and Combpyne.

It was clear from the beginning that the team’s research and projects should be pro-active and not only enquiry-led. A database (Research Team’s Digital Archive) was set up to store the work of the team and provide an important reference source, not only for the team but also for the curatorial work of the Museum.

The Archive now contains over 30,000 documents and image files. Thanks to a generous legacy from former team member Derek Perrey, this resource is now being made available on this website, alongside articles on specific subjects.
