Of the 5,000+ people buried in the cemetery, 48% are grassy sites with no memorial marker of any kind. This, with the increasing number of non-legible headstones and no useful modern plan, makes it difficult to identify many individual grave sites.

With the support of the Town Clerk, the Research Team set up a 'Cemetery Project' (2012-2016). We investigated the history of the cemetery, the stories behind some of the graves, and most usefully, the location of individual graves even if they are grass sites.
